Schools of public policy and public affairs. Placement is unusually geography-bound — proximity to a capital or a policy hub is a structural feature of these programmes, not an incidental one.
Before the ranking matters
- Location drives placement
- Internships and hiring pipelines run to nearby government, multilateral and non-profit employers. A school's city is part of what you're choosing.
- MPP and MPA are not the same degree
- The MPP leans analytical — economics, statistics, policy evaluation. The MPA leans toward management and administration. Programmes ranked side by side may be training for different jobs.
- Public-sector pay shapes the funding maths
- Salary outcomes are lower than in business or law by design, so scholarships, assistantships and loan-forgiveness routes for public-service work matter more than headline earnings.
These rank programmes, not universities. A school's band here is independent of its university's overall position on this site — professional schools admit separately, are funded separately, and are ranked by different publications on different criteria. Where a row shows a university rank too, treat the two numbers as answering different questions.
