Before the ranking matters
- Accreditation is the gate, not the ranking
- In the US, employers and doctoral programmes expect a CEPH-accredited school. Accreditation status matters more than a few places of ranking difference.
- Concentration choice shapes the career
- Epidemiology, biostatistics, health policy and global health lead to markedly different roles. Schools are rarely equally strong across all of them.
- Often a mid-career degree
- Many MPH cohorts include clinicians and practitioners returning after several years of work, and some programmes weight relevant field experience heavily in admission.

A school's band here is independent of its university's overall position on this site — professional schools admit separately, are funded separately, and are ranked by different publications on different criteria.
